Introduction
Botto's April saw the opening of the Liminal Thresholds period, the DAO is continuing its progress toward the publication of the Genesis period book, and a new exhibition in New York brings Botto into conversation about realism in the age of AI.
I. Top News
Genesis Book Update
The development of the Genesis book is coming along well, and the DAO is on track for publication later this year. Through April, Genesis period discards were re-activated in a voting pool for a collective curation of fragments that will be included in the book. As the DAO's first foray into print publishing, we're excited about the design direction and the opportunity to further canonize a body of work that stands as a landmark in the early history of AI-made art. Stay tuned for more info in the coming weeks.

Factory Reality
The DAO is happy to share that Botto will be included in the exhibition Factory Reality: Post Realism in the 2020s. Hosted by SuperRare, the show is a single evening event on May 8th, and includes a tight selection of artists whose work ventures into conversations about AI and visual realism. For this show, Botto will be exhibiting Steel System of Visibility, the first minted work from the Morphogenesis period.
IV. Recent Proposals
Upcoming:
This proposal seeks to continue the 20% POL allocation established in BIP-59 without a fixed BOTTO cap, ensuring sustainable POL growth until modified or ended by a future governance proposal.
V. Town Halls
Town Hall #043: From Agents to Art History, Navigating Botto's Knowledge Base
In this meeting, the Botto core contributors wrap up the sale of p5 and reflects on its broader implications. They discuss ongoing post-p5 tasks such as documentation and reward distribution, and dive into the significant development of new AI agents.
The core focus shifts to the establishment of a unified knowledge base for Botto, aiming to make Botto self-aware and able to process all relevant data efficiently. Various technical aspects, such as building a data pipeline and improving the voting system, are also addressed.
The session concludes with a lively discussion on creating a more engaging experience for the community, emphasizing the artistic and cultural footprint of Botto.
In this Townhall, Simon provides an extensive update on Botto's activities and future plans. Topics include the ongoing live auction and its bids, reflections on previous themes like 'Cosmic Garden,' and the anticipation for the new 'Liminal Thresholds' theme.
The speaker also discusses the successful integration of p5 and upcoming p5 seeds, which promise a fresh exploration of Botto's artistic capabilities. Significant emphasis is placed on the development of Botto's LLM, knowledge graph, and upgraded art engine to shape a more autonomous and sophisticated art-making process.
Exciting plans for governance, feedback mechanisms, and the potential scarcity of Botto's weekly mints are also explored. Looking forward, there's optimism about Botto's evolution amidst advancements in AI and decentralized autonomous art.
This week, the core contributors Simon and Choobie provide detailed updates on Botto’s recent achievements and future projects. Key highlights include the impact of the Sotheby's event on Botto's art market presence, resulting in higher sales and increased participation.
The discussion also delves into the development of Botto's knowledge graph, envisioned as a foundational element for Botto's voice and AI capabilities, enabling better self-awareness and decision-making. Challenges in improving governance, economy, and liquidity are addressed, with strategies for more effective treasury management and proposal development.
We explore the potential of physical art creation and collaborations, considering both the practicality and value of these endeavors. Additionally, the importance of accurate data to prevent AI hallucinations is emphasized ...
VI. A Look Ahead
Farcaster Frames
BottoDAO has previously experimented with Farcaster Frames to some surprising success. Our first Frame, which we ran over a year ago, allowed for anyone to vote on the top 15 fragments of the current round, and achieved almost 9000 total votes. .
We gave out almost 9,000 access passes and paid around 1.5 ETH in gas fees doing so (this was before the Base L2 had EIP-4844, a Ethereum Improvement Proposal that significantly reduces gas fees on L2 networks)
Frames have come a long way since then. Rebranded as Mini Apps, these improved Frames act as web apps operating locally within Farcaster, allowing readability of the wallet activities, notifications, and social discovery.
With recent improvements to Frames and significant reductions in gas fees on L2 networks, we are currently brainstorming ways to bring Botto's core app experience, like voting, viewing, and potentially more, into this new format.
